The Civic Engagement Panel
This panel reflects the theme of Civic Engagement, so vibrant in our community. Pictured are:
• The original City Hall bulding once also housed the Police and Fire Departments. All of these municipal entities were established after the Great Fire of 1916 and ensuing incorporation in 1917.
• Also pictured is the current City Offices building. This structure was originally built in 1944 to serve as the city’s high school.
• Harkening back to the 1917 vote by citizens to incorporate as the City of Davis, the portrayal of a packed City Council chambers and the common sight of competing lawn signs during campaign season represent the extraordinary civic engagement of our citizenry.
